A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to 109th Street Elementary School, home of the Shining Stars!  It is with great pride and joy that I lead the school where my career in education began in 1991.  I had the privilege of serving as a teacher, Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal at 109th Street Elementary during the first 14 years of my career.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve this community once again.  The elementary years are critical times of development for students – they set the foundation for college and beyond (it is never too early to begin planning for college).  Parents play a very important role in a child’s education.  Student learning, academic achievement, and overall success depend heavily on the collaboration between our families and the school community.  I encourage you to get involved at 109th Street Elementary School!  There are many opportunities to volunteer in the school community (in the classroom, library, main office, on the playground, in the cafeteria, etc.).   We are partners in educating our Shining Stars!

It is important that you stay informed about what your child is learning in school and how you can support that learning at home.  Rigorous, standards based instruction continues to be our focus.  Student attendance will also continue to a be a priority for our school because students must to be in school in order to learn.

Thank you for your support.
